Building Inspection Services

 

For smaller domestic building projects, we offer a practical three-visit project monitoring package.


This service is designed for homeowners, landlords and private clients who want independent technical oversight during building works. Many domestic projects are delivered without the structured quality management, inspection records and technical checking that would be expected on larger construction schemes.


Alliance Resolve provides an independent surveyor-led review at key stages of the project, helping to identify visible defects, poor detailing, workmanship concerns and construction risks before they become concealed or more costly to correct.


Following our inspections, we provide the homeowner with a written report setting out our findings, supported by photographic evidence where appropriate.



What the Package Includes

 

The package typically includes:


  • Three site inspection visits at agreed key stages of the works 
  • Visual inspection of workmanship and visible construction details 
  • Review of common risk areas, including damp-proofing, ventilation, insulation, roofing, drainage and weathering details 
  • Photographic record of relevant observations 
  • Written report to the homeowner summarising our findings 
  • Identification of defects, incomplete works or workmanship concerns 
  • Practical recommendations for correction, clarification or further investigation 
  • Comments on items that should be raised with the contractor, designer, engineer or Building Control where appropriate 


The report gives the homeowner a clear record of what was observed at the time of inspection and helps support informed discussions with the contractor.


Chartered Construction Management Experience

 

Alliance Resolve is led by a Chartered Construction Managers with extensive experience in managing, monitoring and reviewing construction works across the full build process.


Our strength is not limited to identifying defects after they occur. We understand how domestic building projects should be planned, sequenced, supervised and completed — from early design intent and site preparation through to structural works, weatherproofing, services integration, finishes and handover.


This experience allows us to assess not only whether a defect is present, but also why it has occurred, whether it reflects poor workmanship, weak sequencing, inadequate supervision, non-compliance with recognised standards, or a failure to properly coordinate the works.


For homeowners, landlords and domestic clients, this provides an added layer of protection. Many small domestic contractors do not operate with the same formal quality management systems expected on larger construction projects. 


Our role is to bring that professional construction management discipline into smaller residential works, helping clients monitor contractors, record progress, identify quality concerns and challenge poor detailing before defects become concealed.


We combine practical construction experience with a surveyor-led understanding of building pathology, British Standards, workmanship quality and long-term performance. This enables us to provide clear, independent and technically grounded advice throughout the project.

Why Three Visits?

 

Three visits usually provide a sensible level of oversight for small domestic projects. We help client side to draw up a binding contracts to ensure you release staged payments upon successful sign off for quality by Alliance Resolve Ltd


Visit 1 – Early Works / Opening-Up Stage


We inspect the early stage of the project, where hidden defects, poor preparation or construction risks may first become visible.


Visit 2 – Pre-Cover-Up Stage


This is often the most important visit. We review key areas before they are concealed behind plasterboard, insulation, flooring, render, tiling or decoration.


Visit 3 – Completion / Snagging Stage


We inspect the visible completed works and identify outstanding defects, poor finishes, incomplete items or matters requiring attention before final payment or handover.



What the Report Provides

 

Our written report may include:


  • Summary of the inspection stage 
  • Observations made on site 
  • Photographic evidence 
  • Defects or concerns identified 
  • Workmanship issues 
  • Items requiring contractor response 
  • Matters requiring further specialist input 
  • Practical recommendations for next steps 


This gives the homeowner a contemporaneous record of the works and a clearer basis for managing quality during the project.



DO WE REPLACE THE BUILDING CONTROL INSPECTOR?

 

Our project monitoring service does not replace the contractor, designer, structural engineer or Building Control Officer.


Building Control remains responsible for statutory Building Regulations inspections where applicable. 


Alliance Resolve provides independent technical oversight and quality observations to assist the homeowner in understanding the condition, quality and progress of the work
